Havenwood Academy serves as an extended residential care facility in Southern Utah, committed to aiding adolescent females navigating complex trauma and attachment concerns. We offer support for individuals assigned female at birth aged 12 through 18, and we regularly engage with adoptive families.
Treatment Strategies
Our integrated care model incorporates tailored individual sessions such as talk therapy, EMDR, Neurofeedback, and Brainspotting, along with group activities, family support sessions, accredited schooling, animal-based interventions, and practical life skills training. We strive to combine innovative trauma care with diverse funding options to reach young females in need. Distinct from many facilities, we welcome Medicaid, California Adoption Assistance, standard health insurance, and private payments. Havenwood holds licensing from the Utah Department of Human Services, Division of Licensing, and accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of HealthCare Organizations.
Hedgehog Therapy Integration
Every residence at our center features a hedgehog that the young women are responsible for caring for. These hedgehogs serve as immediate indicators for the girls' emotional stability, as they respond poorly to dysregulation. Through this interaction, our participants learn to maintain their own emotional balance to engage effectively with the hedgehogs, thereby becoming part of our therapeutic process by promoting self-calming and safety skills.
